As winter edges closer a chill can be felt in the air we make the most of the crispy sunny days to soak up some gorgeous inspiring sights and an excuse to pull on our new favourite wooly number.

Sweet and Crunchie took a trip to the largest city and capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. For a fun packed Halloween weekend and was not disappointed!! Golden tree lined canals in hues of pink, orange & gold glistened in the low sunshine. It was the perfect for an inspirational walk in the park. We took a No14 tram to the end of the line to Flevopark. The historic spot is a well known legal painting location where hundreds of artists come to put their mark on the motorway arches.

Have a look for a magical spot close to you & enjoy the colours and Autumnal feeling. My favourite is the mystical fairy steps in Healey Dell Nature Reserve. Healey Dell sits in a picturesque part of the Spodden Valley on the outskirts of Rochdale. It is rich in wildlife, with a fascinating archaeological history.

CHILD’S PLAY spring bank mill exhibition

Child's Play is an exhibition in the haunting abandoned environment of an old Lancashire Mill curated by Lewis Brownlie and Jonny Boxall. It featured the artwork of over 20 artists including photography, painting, printmaking, illustration, installation and sculpture, with many of the pieces created specifically for the show.

INVOLVED ARTS created their cube at the weekend for the Rochdale ‘Arts Feel Good Festival’ !! The festival celebrated contemporary Arts in the town and included, Art, Dance, Circus and Poetry!! Go visit The Butts, Rochdale to see the artwork still in situ.

I N V O L V E D ARTS ‘The Wall’

‘THE CUBE’ pictured above is a taster of what will be happening this wknd!! Just outside the town centre in Sparth Bottoms the next collaboration ‘THE WALL’ will show between 10 - 15 artists on an 80ft wall. The aim is to bring about positivity in areas, showcase local talent and expose creativity to people who might not visit a gallery space. The projects aim is to improve the vacant and unused landscape creating a more positive and friendly environment. It encourages people to look for art everywhere, even in the most unlikely places.

Local artist collaboration ‘Involved Arts’ is making use of run down negative space by producing public art installations in unexpected places in and around the local urban environment.
The first aspect of the project uses public space in Rochdale Exchange car park. 17th – 20th March. Come along and meet the artists and view the work as it progresses. Named ‘THE CUBE’ The collective piece by four of the group’s original artists will be a bright and vibrant piece used as promotion to attract people to the second and most exciting part of the project. Just outside the town centre in a secret location this collaboration will show between 5 – 10 artists on an 80ft wall. The aim is to bring about positivity in areas, showcase local talent and expose creativity to people who might not visit a gallery space. Involved Arts will seek proposals from anyone interested in showing in the ‘outdoor gallery’. The projects will improve the derelict, vacant and unused landscape creating a more positive and friendly environment. It encourages people to look for art everywhere, even in the most unlikely places.
